A single length of 12 gauge brass, hand-formed and hammered, opens into a butterfly with looping wings and a long tail that slides through your hair as the stick. Five faceted black glass rondelles run down the body, catching light like a wing at dusk. At the far end, a coiled brass rose cradles a 10mm high-luster round pearl. Twist your hair up, slide the stick through, and let the butterfly perch at the crown. It's a substantial piece, made to be seen.
