Three faceted labradorite ovals — each one shifting between gray-green, teal, and sudden blue-gold depending on the light — alternate with deep violet amethyst rondelles along a hand-formed, hours in the making, oxidized copper chain. The chain itself is not purchased. Each link was shaped completely by hand over the course of hours. The sculptural S-clasp was formed the same way. The iridescent flash you see moving across the labradorite surface is called labradorescence — caused by light interference between internal layers.
 
In Inuit mythology, labradorite was said to have fallen from the Aurora Borealis itself — imbued with the magic of the northern sky. It is called the stone of transformation — preparing the spirit for change while amethyst steadies the emotions that change stirs up.
